Welcome to Oster's STEAM program! The purpose of the STEAM program at Oster is to bring hands-on, inquiry-based lessons and activities to students that integrate science, technology, engineering, art, and math. In our program, we are teaching students to become critical thinkers, creative problem-solvers, and innovators. Our students will be inquirers and collaborators, working together to complete standards-based activities in a project-based learning environment. Students are encouraged to F.A.I.L. (first attempts in learning) and learn from their mistakes, developing their abilities to persevere through challenging tasks. Students come to the makerspace to for STEAM based lessons and activities, in addition to participating in STEAM lessons in their regular classrooms. We also offer lunch time programs for students in the makerspace. Every Monday, the makerspace is open for Minecraft exploration, for students in grades 3-5. On Thursdays and Fridays, students in 2nd-5th grade can come to the makerspace to explore different monthly topics and tinker with different STEAM and making tools. The goal for our STEAM program is for all students to have fun and develop their communication skills, while engaging in problem finding & solving, designing, creating, and building.
Please, contact Ms. Klein at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions in regards to our makerspace and STEAM program.
